Prairie Rhodes Scholars-elect selected

Coming from Calgary, Jaspreet Khandura is in the final year of Medicine at UBC and will study for a MSc. in Global Health Science and Health Economics.
Jaspreet, a 23 year old native of Calgary, is the first member of her family to study medicine. She is currently in the final year of her medical degree study at the University of British Columbia ("UBC"), having completed there, prior to her entry into the MD Program, three years of a four-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours Physiology degree over the period fall 2003 to Spring 2006. She continues, amongst a host of other extracurricular activities including volunteer service at a Vancouver East side "soup kitchen" and East side community health clinic, and medical school student affairs activities, to pursue her passion for women's field hockey, a sport at which she has competed nationally in Canada at the junior level. At Oxford University, she intends to pursue a Masters in Science (MSc) in Global Health Sciences and Health Economics.
Gino Bruni
Gino Bruni is from Calgary, and is in his final year of a Masters of Applied Science (Nuclear Engineering) at RMC preceded by a BEng (Chemical Engineering) there. He will study for a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Gino, a 23 year old native of Calgary, followed his older siblings to Royal Military College ("RMC"), Canada's only "military" university, in Kingston, Ontario. Gino completed his four year Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering degree at the top of his engineering class, and as the top scholastic student (Governor General's Silver Medal) in the 2007 graduating class. A keen and highly skilled ice hockey player and lately a budding marathoner, in his final year of undergraduate study (2006-07) he was selected to lead his squadron at RMC. He is currently funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) in his second (and final year) of graduate study at RMC and is expected to secure an RMC Masters of Applied Science in Nuclear Engineering in the Spring of 2010. Gino plans to seek admission to Oxford University's BA Undergraduate Program of study of Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Tyler Grant![]()
Tyler is in his final year of a BSc. (Biosystems Engineering) at the U of Manitoba.
Tyler, a 22 year old native of the town of Oakbank, Manitoba, located south-east of Winnipeg, is in the final year of his study of Systems Engineering in the Engineering-Biosystems Program of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tyler's concentration on biosystems engineering, which in Manitoba has been aided by two NSERC Undergraduate research awards, will continue at Oxford University where he intends to seek a Masters of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering. Tyler will continue at Oxford his interest in and excellence with classical guitar, which he has consistently maintained throughout his secondary and university years.
