Concordia : BSc in Cell and Molecular Biology
Liliane Chamas immigrated to Montreal four years ago. She was born in Minsk, Belarus, and has also lived in Lebanon and France, enabling her to be fluent in Russian, Arabic and French as well as English and Spanish. Liliane's bachelor course of study and her volunteer work with the Montreal General Hospital, the Red Cross and Aids Community Care of Montreal confirmed her plans to work in the healthcare sector, combining medical practice with scientific research. Her research experience ranges from projects on vision at Concordia, sexual reproduction at the Institute of Neuroethology of the University of Veracruz in Mexico, and on obesity at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montreal [IRCM]. At Oxford, she will study diabetes and dyslipidemia as part of her DPhil. Combining this research experience with a future degree in medicine, she hopes to one day work for the World Health Organization. Liliane enjoys kickboxing and traveling, and she has backpacked across Canada, South America and Europe.
